11. THE 15-FOOT WHIP ANTENNA.
You have completed all the cable
connections necessary to link all the major components of the radio
set AN/GRC-193.
We are now ready to install the 15-foot whip
antenna.
One of the most important things to remember when
installing any antenna is to stay clear of all power lines.
a. The 15-foot whip antenna consists of an antenna cover, antenna
tip assembly, guy ropes, one mast section MS-118A, one mast section
MS-117A, and three mast sections MS-116A.

b. Assemble the 15-foot whip antenna by screwing together three
mast sections MS-116A. Then screw mast section MS-117A into the top
of the three MS-116As you just put together.
Finally, screw mast
section MS-118A into the top of MS-117A.
c. Slide the antenna cover over the assembled mast sections, and
screw the antenna into antenna mast base AB-652/GR.
Make sure the
cover slides down over the antenna mast base.
