INTRODUCTION
The signal annex is the primary planning document which the signal officer uses to plan and coordinate
signal support requirements. Annexes are an integral part of a unit's operations plan (OPLAN) or
operations order (OPORD). They deal with specific areas in support of the unit's mission. An annex
keeps the basic text of an OPLAN or OPORD short. An annex can include written text overlays,
diagrams, charts, overprinted maps, and tables (anything to help clarify and Illustrate how your staff
element will support the unit in successfully accomplishing its mission).
