(b) Service markings. For interservice use, the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps
each have distinctive markings (App B, p B-7). Figure 1-4 shows the service designator for each service.
Note that the military symbols referring to Army units have no special designator.

(c) Unit size symbol (App B, p B-8). You show the size of units or installations by
placing the appropriate size indicator directly above the basic symbol. Figure 1-5 shows examples of
units with their size indicator affixed.
