RECEIVE INSTRUCTIONS
Letter of Instruction (LOI)
A LOI is a condensed version of the original OPORD which it
supports.
Its purpose is to spell out the duties of usually one section or
element. It is an aid to operations security (OPSEC) since it provides only
what information that section or element requires to perform the mission. For
the purposes of this exercise we will use an LOI that has been generated from
the previous OPORD, by the Battalion S-3 officer. This LOI is addressed to the
Commander of A Co for the deployment and missions of his HF RATT sections.
