Bureau
of standards transmits on multiples of 5 MHz in the
continental US (CONUS).
Set the MODE selector switch (C) to V-RCV.
Set the SB selector switch (D) to USB.
Set the VOLUME control (E) to OFF.
(b) Amplifier-coupler. To set the amplifier-coupler control, set
the ANT SEL switch (F) to the middle position (BNC connector).
The top
position is used only for local whip, and the bottom position is used only
for a 50-ohm antenna (dipole or NVIS).
(c) Amplifier-power
supply.
Set
the
amplifier-power
supply
controls as follows:
Set the SPEAKER ON/OFF switch (G) to OFF.
Set the SQUELCH
OFF/MAX
control
(H)
to
OFF
(fully
clockwise).
Set the POWER ON/OFF switch (I) to ON.
(d) Switching unit.
To set the switching unit (part of the
installation kit) control, set the ANTENNA LOADING switch (J) to the correct
setting for the frequency and antenna used.
(2) Turn the volume control (E) on the receiver-exciter to midrange,
and allow 5 seconds for warm-up.
(3) Verify that the following conditions are present:
Receive noise is present in the handset.
Light is visible in the frequency indicator windows (B) when
the LIGHT switch (K) is pressed.
The POWER indicator light (L) on the amplifier-power supply is
on (turning lens counterclockwise brightens the light).
NOTE:
Failure to achieve the last two conditions described in paragraph
10a(3) does not warrant a high maintenance priority. (The AN/GRC-
213 will still perform its mission.) Failure to achieve the first
condition in paragraph 10a(3) may demand immediate repair.
(4) Adjust the VOLUME
control
(E)
on
the
receiver-exciter
to
a
comfortable listening level.
