2. OPERATION CHECK (Op Check). An operation check provides a step-by-step
procedure for evaluating the intercommunication set AN/VIC-1(V) with medium
power FM radio and communication security equipment TSEC KY-57 (VINSON). It
specifies the procedure to check the operational status of the system (see
Appendix A).
3. TYPES OF PROBLEMS. Problems within the system can normally be defined
as an OPEN or a SHORT. When performing the steps of the operational check--
a. If the normal indication does not occur when it should, an item
within the circuit probably contains an open.
b. If it occurs before it should, an item within the circuit probably
contains a short.
c. Identifying the type of problem will determine the troubleshooting
method and will speed up the process and repair of the equipment.
