In this lesson, you will learn the basic knowledge of the purpose, operation, and characteristics of receivers used
in satellite communications ground terminals.

Demonstrate a basic knowledge of the purpose, operation, and characteristics of receivers
used in satellite communications ground terminals. Recognize the effects of various
parameters such as atmospheric, celestial, season, terrestrial, fading, and internal/manmade.
Take steps to overcome these parameters and improve communications S/N.
CONDITION:
Lesson material, pencil, and paper.
STANDARD:
Demonstrate competency of the task, skills, and knowledge of the material presented by
responding to 70 percent of the test questions covering satellite communications, without
supervision.
INTRODUCTION
