f. The MSRT allows the user to dial up and communicate with any discretely-addressed MSE
subscriber. The mobile subscriber accesses the network via a radio access unit (RAU). RAUs are
deployed and operated by the divisional signal battalion. RAUs are located in the vicinity of the NCs
and throughout the division area of operations to provide battlefield coverage. Each RAU can provide a
15-kilometer radius area coverage (planning range) in the area of operations. Figure 1-2 illustrates how
mobile subscribers access the MSE network
g. SINCGARS can access the MSE network through a secure digital NRI (TSEC/KY-90)
located at either a SEN or LEN. To access the NRI system, users must have the required FH variable of
the NRI radio, or they must contact the station on a cue frequency. The SINCGARS interface with MSE
is depicted in Figure 1-2.
