LESSON DESCRIPTION:
In this lesson, you will learn about the importance of preparing adequate emergency plans for COMSEC material.
You also will learn about practicing and executing procedures for securely storing, destroying, and evacuating
COMSEC material.

INTRODUCTION
Cryptosecurity material is vital to ensure secure command, control, and communications. However, unplanned
events occur on and off the battlefield. These include tornadoes, terrorist attacks, civil uprisings, and surprise
enemy attacks. They represent real threats to COMSEC material. COMSEC custodians are responsible for
preparing emergency plans that can be implemented, regardless of the emergency. They must know how to plan,
prepare, and implement emergency plans. The signal officer must ensure they can do these tasks.
