INTRODUCTION
One of the basic tasks of fire support units is to communicate. The ability of the division artillery (DIVARTY) to
communicate with its subordinate elements is perhaps the greatest single factor in determining whether or not the
division itself will successfully accomplish its mission. Signal staff planning is absolutely essential before you
can carry out a signal support mission. Signal planning is your estimating the need and then determining how you
will meet it.
