TASK:
Describe
the
classification
of
patching
panels,
standardized DCS patching facilities, jack arrangements for
VF and DC circuits, and the use of test devices used in
technical control operations.
CONDITIONS:
Given information about the classification of patching
panels, jack arrangements for VF and DC communication
circuits, DCS standardized patching facilities and the use
of test devices utilized in technical control operations.
STANDARDS:
Demonstrate competency of the task skills and knowledge by
responding to the multiple-choice practice exercise; select
the ONE answer that BEST completes the statement or answers
the question covering patching panel with 70 percent
accuracy.

Learning Event 1: PURPOSE OF TECHNICAL CONTROL
Technical control provides the broad degree of system flexibility
needed for consistent effective utilization of communication resources.
This purpose requires the capability to selectively utilize various
combinations of available transmission facilities.
a. Technical Control.
The term technical control applies to both the
function and physical area.
(1) The function is the coordination, operational control, and
supervision of communication facilities, including the performance of tests
and restoral of service in consonance with the operational requirements and
procedures.
(2) The physical area is the space occupied by equipment and facilities
which enable the technical control personnel to perform these functions.
This area is called the technical control facility.
