IDENTIFY METHODS OF TROUBLESHOOTING CONTACT PRINTERS

Troubleshooting is the most time consuming part of organizational maintenance because it involves
finding the part causing the problem, replacing the bad part, and then adjusting the printer so that it functions
properly.

Troubleshooting the contact printer at the organizational level includes the operational checks
contained in the organizational quarterly preventive maintenance checks and services chart (fig. 2-2). To
troubleshoot the contact printer, proceed through the items until an abnormal condition or result is observed.
When an abnormal condition or result is observed, refer to the troubleshooting chart (fig. 2-4) and perform
the corrective measures indicated. If the corrective measures indicated do not result in the correction of the
trouble, refer the equipment to the next higher level of maintenance.
