(1) Kneaded erasers - These erasers do not rub the particles across the surface, but lift
and absorb them, leaving little chance of smudging. Periodically after use, knead the medium
picked up into the eraser. Shape these erasers into a fine point or an edge allowing pickup or
lifting out of small areas. Use this as an excellent way to create highlights or other effects (fig 1-
9).
