The Interdepartment Radio
Advisory Committee is composed of a main committee consisting of
representatives from the above stated government departments and
agencies, four standing subcommittees, and six standing working
groups. The subcommittees are the Frequency Assignment Subcommittee,
the Technical Subcommittee, the Spectrum Planning Subcommittee, and
the International Notification Group.

d. Recommendations for approval of frequency assignments to
government
stations
are
made
to
the
Director,
Office
of
Telecommunications Policy, by the Frequency Assignment Subcommittee.
Prior to use of radio frequency within the United States and its
possessions, United States Government agencies are required to obtain
Office of Telecommunications Policy approval for a specific frequency
assignment. Any federal government agency with a direct interest in
the use of the radio frequency spectrum is eligible to apply
for
membership
in
the
Frequency
Assignment
Subcommittee.
Currently, 17 departments and agencies, including the Federal
Commission
are
represented.
