Subcommittee, other government agencies, including the Tennessee
Valley Authority and the Federal Reserve Board, are served by the
Frequency Assignment Subcommittee.
There are two subgroups within
the Frequency Assignment Subcommittee.
(1) The Aeronautical Assignment Group, chaired by the Federal
Aviation Administration representative, has members from Federal
Aviation Administration, Navy, Air Force, and Army.
The Federal
Aviation Administration has been assigned engineering responsibility
for certain segments of the spectrum in the low frequency, medium
frequency, very high frequency, and ultra high frequency aviation
bands.
The Aeronautical Assignment Group approves assignments
pertaining to aeronautical operations.
(2) The Military Assignment Group, with membership representing
the same agencies as the Aeronautical Assignment Group, is chaired by
the Air Force representative.
It has cognizance over two bands,
primarily of military concern, in the very high frequency and ultra
high frequency ranges.
The Military Assignment Group approves
e. The Technical Subcommittee assists the Director, Office of
Telecommunications Policy, in handling problems concerning use of
to insure more effective and efficient use of the radio frequency
spectrum.
The Army participates actively in
the Technical
Subcommittee and its six permanent working groups.
f. The
Spectrum
Planning
Subcommittee
supports
the
Interdepartment
Radio
Advisory
Committee
and
Office
of
Telecommunications Policy in planning the allocation of radio
frequency spectrum resources for established radio services and for
new services under development or anticipated.
Each agency
represented in Interdepartment Radio Advisory Committee can be
represented on the Spectrum Planning Subcommittee and the Army is an
active member.

g. The International Notification Group has functions of drafting
rules and procedures for the notification of United States frequency
assignments to the International Telecommunications Union, and the
preparation of responses to the International Telecommunications
Union concerning questionnaires and other correspondence related to
