(4) The target acquisition battery (TAB) has the mission of detecting, locating, and identifying enemy
elements and forces within the division's area of interest.
b. Light infantry division. The organization of the light infantry division DIVARTY is illustrated at Figure
1-2. This DIVARTY has approximately 1,300 assigned personnel.
(1) The HHB provides command, control, and supervision of the tactical operations of the DIVARTY
and attached units. The HQ battery provides unit administration and logistical support for the DIVARTY staff
functions.
(2) The FA battery (155mm towed) has the mission of destroying, neutralizing, or suppressing the enemy
by cannon fire.
(3) The three FA battalions (105mm towed) have the mission of destroying, neutralizing, or suppressing
the enemy by cannon fire.
c. Airborne and air assault divisions. The organizations of the DIVARTYs of airborne and air assault
divisions are shown at Figures 1-3 and 1-4. There are about 1,400 personnel assigned to these DIVARTYs.
