1. Organization and Mission of a Divisional MI Battalion.
The
mission of the divisional MI battalion is to provide dedicated
The battalion is organic to the division, operates under the command
and direction of the division commander and his staff, and responds
to missions assigned by the division G2 and G3 and their staffs.
The MI battalion in a heavy
division has four companies, as shown at Figure 1-1. This battalion
has about 300 assigned soldiers.

(1) The headquarters, headquarters and service company (HHSC)
provides command and control for all elements, including those under
the battalion's assets in support of IEW operations and supplies
technical
control
and
analysis
for
electronic
warfare
(EW)
operations.
Personnel and equipment to support three IEW support
elements (IEWSE) are assigned to the HHSC; one for each maneuver
brigade in a three-brigade division.
The HHSC also provides
administrative, vehicle maintenance, and food service support for the
battalion.

both IEW and signal equipment.

collection
and
jamming
(C&J)
company
provides
