c. Some installations require the appearance of the installation to be the governing factor in
selecting materials and the locations of equipment and wire. In commercial practice colored wire and
equipment are used to match, as nearly as possible, the surface color where the wire and equipment are
installed. When available, use these materials for installations where appearance is important. Use an
inside wiring cleat as a final fastener for wire on the baseboard adjacent to a desk or a table.
d. Fastening cable. To fasten cable properly, space fastening device as follows:
Horizontal runs: Approximately 16 inches apart.
Vertical runs: Approximately 4 feet apart for cables larger than 12 pairs, and approximately
16 inches apart for cables of 12 pairs or smaller.
