However, for this operation you will secure the wires as follows. Connect the red wire to the red
terminal. Connect the green and yellow wires to the green terminal. See Figure 55 for correct
positioning of the wires.

Telephone testing.
Once the wires and instruments are installed you are required to check the work by calling
back to the central office. Using the instrument you have installed call and ask the operator to give you
a call. This will ensure that you have used the correct pair, and that the phone will both transmit and
receive telephone calls. While the phone is ringing, turn the instrument upside down and adjust the
loudness of the bell. This is accomplished by adjusting the loudness control. After adjusting the
loudness answer the operator and hang up the handset in the cradle. The installation task is completed
but you have not completed your work. Now you must refer to the DA Form 3938 that was studied
when you started the installation and complete the form. Refer to Lesson 1 Learning Event 2 on page 14
to refresh your memory.
