Installation.
a. Mounting. The DNVT has rubber feet for desktop mounting and D-rings affixed to the case
side for vertical mounting to a tree or pole. Mounting may be accomplished by the use of rope, wire, or
straps. Secure one end to the left side D-ring. Hold the DNVT in the desired mounting position. Feed
the rope, wire, or strap through the top right side D-ring; tighten and secure. (See Figure 1-22.)

b. Bit rate selection. Use a screwdriver to set the switch to the 16 or 32 kb/s RATE position.
WARNING
Voltages as high as +56 may be encountered at the transmit and
receive pairs of the field wire/cable. Use extreme caution when
making connections.
c. Field wire connection. Insert the wire/cable WF-16/U through the lower right D-ring for
strain relief. Prepare the wire/cable by removing 1/2 inch of insulation from the wire. Strip 1/2 inch
more and pull it to the end of the wire. Cut off 1/4 inch of the end of the wire. Connect the field
wire/cable by pushing the end of the proper binding post, insert the wire end into the opening of the
binding post, and release the binding post. (See Figure 1-23.)
