Learning Event 1:
DESCRIBE THE PROCEDURES NECESSARY TO PERFORM MAINTENANCE.
1.
Monthly checks and services.
a. In order to keep the equipment operating, it is necessary to perform the monthly checks and
services. The equipment cannot be expected to run constantly without proper maintenance.
b. Perform the maintenance functions indicated in the organizational monthly preventive
maintenance checks and services (fig. 3-1) once each month. A month is defined as approximately 30
calendar days of 8-hour-per-day operation. If the equipment is operated 16 hours a day, the monthly
preventive maintenance checks and services should be performed at 15-day intervals. Adjustment of the
maintenance interval must be made to compensate for any unusual operating conditions. Equipment
maintained in a standby condition must have monthly preventive maintenance checks and services performed
on it. Equipment in limited storage does not require monthly preventive maintenance.
