OPERATE RADIO SET AN/GRC-193
OBJECTIVE
After completing this lesson, you will be able to perform initial
control settings, correct start-up procedures, operational procedures
for voice communication, and shut-down procedures for the radio set
AN/GRC-193, and use the operator's troubleshooting table given an
installed and operational AN/GRC-193.
13. INTRODUCTION. This lesson will give you basic information to set
the controls and operate radio set AN/GRC-193.
The controls and
indicators needed to operate the radio set are on the front panels of
the components.
The vehicle engine must be running when this radio
set is operating. The engine speed should be fast enough to show the
battery is charging when the radio is transmitting.
CAUTION
DO NOT START THE VEHICLE ENGINE WITH THE RADIO ON.
The four major steps in operating the AN/GRC-193 are:
Perform the initial control settings.
Perform correct start-up procedures for voice operation.
Use operator's troubleshooting table.
Shut down the radio set properly.
14. INITIAL CONTROLS SETTING.
Before starting with the initial
control settings for each of the four major components of the radio
set, you should-
Ensure the air intake and exhaust ports on antenna coupler CU-
Ensure that all the cables are tight and connected to the
proper connections on all the components and that the equipment
is grounded.
Set the controls for each major component as shown in Figures
11 through 14.
