(1) General test procedures. You must determine the type of test and
the location of the test points to identify the actual bad item of
equipment.
Troubleshooting techniques for this type of defect is circuit
(2) Test procedure 79.
The first test is to remove the CX-13061/U
from the KY-57.
With a jumper wire, jumper P2 pin G to pin N (circuit
substitution). This energizes K-S (power) in the J-3513/U; as
if, the KY-57 is still connected to the J-3513/U (Figure 103).
With another jumper wire, short to ground on the CX-13061/U P2
pin T to shield.
With the squelch disable circuit shorted to ground, the RT
call lamp should light.
If the RT call lamp lights, the KY-57 is bad.
If the RT call lamp does not light, more tests are needed.
(3) Test procedure 80.
Remove the jumper wire from P2 pin T to
shield.
Leave in place the jumper at P2 pin G to pin N.
Remove the RT from the MT-1029 mount.
Measure continuity on the MT-1029 J24 pin P to the CX-13061/U
P2 pin T, then reverse the test leads and remeasure.
If zero ohms is measured on either measurement, the RT is bad.
If infinity is measured, the MT-1029, J-3513/U, or CX-13061/U
is bad.
