(1) Communications. At corps, the corps signal brigade is the organization
responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining the corps communications system. The
headquarters and headquarters company (HHC) of the signal brigade consists of the brigade HQ,
the HQ company, and the corps signal office (Figure 3-7, page 3-10). The corps signal brigade
commander also serves as a member of the corps special staff as the corps signal officer. The
corps signal office has the primary responsibility for planning and preparing the signal estimates,
plans, and orders to ensure that communications support is provided to the corps commander.
The corps signal office is under the direction of the corps signal officer and is overseen by the
assistant corps signal officer and his staff. Primary duties of the assistant corps signal officer
include:
(a) Overseeing the operation of the corps signal office.
