SECTION 2. INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY OF THE ANTENNA SYSTEM

General. Before you go any further into the operation and tuning of the AN/GRC-103,
you will become familiar with the installation and disassembly of its antenna system.
The antenna must be installed before you can establish communications by tuning the

antenna system contains an antenna, mast, and an extension kit.
b.
Description of Antenna. The antenna consists of a common variable-corner reflector
which is used for BAND I, II, or III operation along with the appropriate plug-in dipole
element. Figure 10 shows the antenna reflector with the BAND I dipole element.

Each band of frequencies has its own dipole element which must be installed when BAND II or
III transmitter or receiver RF heads are installed, Figure 11 shows the dipoles used for BAND II
or III operation.
