Learning Event 3:
IDENTIFY THE PROPER PROCEDURES TO PROCESS OUTGOING MESSAGES.
1.
The procedures for processing outgoing messages are similar to those
for incoming messages.
The same number sheet is used for incoming and
outgoing messages.
Each column of the number sheet is assigned to a
different station, (Figure 3-3). The call signs of each station are entered
in the appropriate block and the date is entered in the date block. Your
station call sign is entered in the STATION CALL block.
2.
Message numbers are assigned to outgoing messages according to order
of handling. The order of handling is determined by the precedence level of
the messages.
After a message is transmitted and receipted, the operator
strikes a slant through the message number and enters the message DTG and
his initials.
3.
The operator's number sheet is an important form.
It assists in
handling, recording, and checking traffic. Proper form use is critical for
accurate records of station/net operations.
Lesson 4 addresses specific
areas to check for proper use of the form.
