g. Medium Capacity TDM Multichannel Radio Systems.
Medium
capacity systems generally use radio set AN/GRC-50V).
Radio set
AN/GRC-103, with band IV, is projected to replace the AN/GRC-50 in
medium capacity configurations.
When teamed with the multiplexer set TD-352 and other ancillary
equipment, the radio set can provide a 12-or 24-channel system.
Medium capacity systems provide communications primarily at the corps
and area level signal centers. Figure 1-22 shows a block diagram of
a 12-channel medium capacity TDM multichannel radio system.
The telephone signal converter CV-1548 functions as it did in the low
capacity configuration.
The output of the converter goes to
multiplexer set TD-352 via cable.
The TD-352 converts 12 four-wire
VF channels to a TDM-PCM signal for transmission. An interface unit,
the multiplexer set TD-202, connects the TD-352 to the radio set.
The TD-202 provides impedance matching and signal regeneration. The
transmitter of the AN/GRC-50 receives the signal from the TD-202 and
modulates it, along with the order wire signal when present, onto the
selected RF carrier. The radio set routes the RF carrier signal to
the antenna for transmission.
