c. Request for an equipment spectrum allocation are made on DD
Form 1494 (application for frequency allocation) shown in Figure 11.
This form provides space for explicit detail on equipment functions
so that it is possible to determine whether or not the equipment is
technically suitable, or may be made technically suitable, for that
particular service.
The area of usage also covers uses outside the
United States to determine whether or not the equipment is in the
appropriate band for that particular region of the world.
The
technical data is compared to appropriate regulatory documents. The
equipment information is also compared with the appropriate Military
Communications-Electronics Board guidelines, which may restrict its
use in certain frequency bands.
The Allocation Memorandum, the
official allocation authority, contains guidance to the equipment
developer to insure compatible operation of the equipment in the
expected environment.
