(4) Stage 4: The fourth stage is preparing for further follow-on or new major engagements or
campaigns. Continuous operations are sustained. The cascading effect of each new success makes
enemy forces increasingly vulnerable to our operational cycle. Logistics are tailored to support missions
continuously through the cycles and across the battlefield, as are replacement operations for both
individuals and units.
e. ALO is a concept which describes how Army units will operate in the future a land
component of an air, land; and sea power in joint and combined operations. Incorporating lessons
learned from Operation Desert Storm, ALO will set the direction for the continuing evolution of
doctrine, organization, and training for the U.S. armed forces.
