e. In fire support units, mobile subscribers use user-owned and operated mobile subscriber radiotelephone
terminals (MSRT) to access the MSE network via radio access unit (RAU). The MSRT allows the user to dial up
and communicate with any discretely-addressed MSE subscriber. The MSRT consists of two major components:
the digital subscriber voice terminal (DSVT) (TSEC/KY-68) and the receiver/transmitter (RT-1539). Functional
characteristics of the MSRT include secure automatic voice/data communications, discrete addressability,
to 88 MHz, and a 15-kilometer (9.3-mile) range.
