Terminating Skinners on Lugs
All cable pairs coming into distributing frames are connected to
terminal strips, not to circuits directly. Further, all connections between
terminal strips are made by jumpers to the side of the terminal strip
opposite the appropriate cable pairs. No wire other than the cable pair is
to be fastened to the cable side of each terminal strip.
Corresponding
metal stampings lead through the terminal strips for attaching the jumpers.
a. Jumpers.
There is no direct connection between the horizontal
terminal strips; only jumpers are used to complete the connection. A clear
view of jumpers is shown in figure 2-2.
(Terminal strips are called
terminal blocks in this figure. The terms terminal strips, terminal blocks,
and terminal boards are interchangeable.) All jumper wires are attached to
the top terminals of each board, as shown in figure 2-12, and the cables are
attached to the underside terminals.
