(2) Soldering. The soldering operation requires the use of a cloth to
prevent solder drippings from falling into terminal blocks or equipment. A
secondary purpose is to keep the soldering iron tip clean and well tinned at
all times.
Since the hot iron sometimes causes solder to spatter, safety
officers and NCOs must insist that installers wear safety goggles to prevent
eye injuries.
