b. Jackfields. A simplified full-duplex teletypewriter system passing
through the AN/MSQ-73 is illustrated in figure 3-14. One send (SEND) and
one receive (REC) jackfield are included. Relay operation is incorporated
because the incompatible 60-ma circuits must be electrically isolated.
Each relay assembly contains two sections, one for each direction of
transmission in a full-duplex circuit.
The front panel of the relay
assembly contains jacks to measure line and bias currents, as well as
variable resistors to control and adjust these currents.
