INSTALL RADIO SET AN/GRC-193
OBJECTIVE
After completing this lesson, you will be able to install the major
components and cables required to operate the radio set AN/GRC-193
for voice operation.
6. INTRODUCTION.
This lesson will provide you with step-by-step
instructions necessary to properly install the components of the
radio set AN/GRC-193 for voice operation.
This lesson is very
important, since you must know how to install the components of the
radio set before you can operate the radio set. Since all components
have front or side panels for standard rack mounting, care must be
taken when installing the equipment to prevent damage to the
connectors.
7. INSTALLATION OF COMPONENTS.
The four major steps that you must
complete when installing the AN/GRC-193 are:
a. Installation of the amplifier-converter AM-6879, and RT-1209.
d. Installation of the 15-foot whip antenna.
8. INSTALLATION OF THE AMPLIFIER-CONVERTER AM-6879 AND THE RECEIVER-
Since you now know the four major steps in
installing the AN/GRC-193, we will look at each step in detail.
We
will start with the installation of the amplifier-converter AM-6879
and the receiver-transmitter RT-1209 (Fig 6).
a. Loosen the wing nuts on the front of the mounting tray.
b. Insert the back edge of the amplifier-converter assembly under
the rear holder at the left side of the mounting tray.
c. Position the front fasteners on MT-6232 to hold in and down on
the front tip of the amplifier-converter.
d. Tighten the wing nuts firmly.
e. Secure the receiver-transmitter on the right side of the
mounting tray by repeating steps a through d.
