b. General test procedures.
You must determine the type of test and
the location of the test points, to identify the actual bad item of
equipment.
Troubleshooting techniques for this type of defect are signal
tracing followed by continuity measurements. (System diagram.)
c. Test procedure 39. The first test is at the RT SPKR jack. Move the
handset from the J-3513/U J5 to the RT SPKR jack and listen for rushing
noise.
If rushing noise is heard, the RT is good, but there is an open
or short on the circuit to J3513/U J5.
To check for a short,
turn the RT OFF.
Measure continuity on the J-3513/U J5 pin A to pin B.
If the measurement is more than ten ohms the circuit is not
shorted, but an open exists to the RT phone audio out circuit.
If the measurement is less than ten ohms a short exits within the
J-3513/U, CX-13061/U, CX-13062/U, or the KY-57.
d. Test procedure 40.
To check a short within the J-3513/U, CX-
13061/U, CX-13062/U, or the KY-57, remove the CX-13062/U from the KY-57
audio jack.
Measure the continuity at the J-3513/U J5 pin A to pin B.
If the measurement is more than ten ohms, the CX-13062/U or the
J-3513/U is bad.
e. Test procedure 41.
Remove the RT from the mount.
Disconnect the CX-13062/U from the J-3513
J1
and
measure
continuity on the CX-13062/U P1 pin B to pin A.
If zero ohms is measured, the CX-13062/U is bad.
Send to COMSEC
maintenance for repair.
If infinity is measured, the J3513/U is bad.
Send to COMSEC
maintenance for repair.
f. Test procedure 42. When checking at the J-3513/U J5 pin A to pin B,
with the CX-13062/U disconnected from the KY-57 audio connector, the
measurement is less than ten ohms.
Remove the CX-13061/U from the KY-57 RAD jack and remeasure J5
pin A to B.
If the measurement is more than ten ohms, the KY-57 is bad.
Send
to COMSEC maintenance for repair.
If the measurement is less than ten ohms, remove the RT from the
MT-1029.
