b. TRITAC transmission equipment.
(1) LOS Radio Terminal Set AN/TRC-173 is capable of terminating two
multichannel systems of 8 to 36 channels each. It is employed to provide access terminals at
major EAC communications nodes. The AN/TRC-173 operates in the 1.35 to 1.85 GHz
frequency range with a planning range of about 30 miles. The radio equipment is housed in a
single S-589 shelter. Figure 1-30 illustrates the interior of the radio terminal set.
