The units in the MSB are dispersed, supporting division elements in the division support area and
providing back-up support to the FSBs. As with other nets, this net may need a retransmission station
atop a prominent hill to overcome terrain obstacles.

(h) The signal CP wire communications of the heavy division DISCOM is partially
installed by a wire team from the signal support operations platoon of the division signal battalion.
Much of the installation of wire and phones must be done with organic DISCOM assets. Elements of
DISCOM in the division forward areas are connected by the DISCOM units with cable or wire to the
extension. Figure 2-16, page 2-12 depicts the wire system for DISCOM HHC/MMC. This support is
provided by a non MSE-equipped division signal battalion. The switchboard service is provided by an
AN/TTC-41 automatic telephone central office. The AN/TTC-41 provides conference calling and
preemptive switching. It is mounted in an SB-250 shelter carried in a commercial utility cargo vehicle
(CUCV) or a high mobility multi-purpose wheeled vehicle (HMMWV). Note the high density of
