OBJECTIVES
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
The performance objectives of this lesson are for you to be able to accomplish the
following tasks.
1.
Lay out an antenna site for the AN/GRC-103 antenna system by positioning and installing
the guy anchors. The procedure used to determine the placement of each guy anchor and the
type of anchor used must be as specified in paragraphs 3-3, 3-4, and figure 3-2 of TM 11-5820-
540-12. The antenna site layout must be accomplished within 30 minutes.
2.
Erect the 35-foot antenna system used with Radio Set AN/GRC-103 on a prepared antenna
site. Antenna erection consists of assembly of the launcher, assembly of the antenna, and raising
the antenna system to a height of 35-feet. The procedure used must be as specified in paragraphs
3-5 and 3-6 of TM 11-5820-540-12. Two individuals are required for the performance of this
task and they should accomplish it within 25 minutes.
3.
Lower a 35-foot AN/GRC-103 antenna system. An installed 35-foot AN/GRC-103
antenna system will be provided and must be lowered to a point where the guy attachment ring is
approximately 18 inches above the top plate of the launcher. The procedure used must be as
specified in paragraph 3-7 of TM 11-5820-540-12 and be accomplished within 25 minutes by
two individuals.
