Disassemble the launcher and antenna used with Radio Set AN/GRC-103. An installed
launcher with an antenna connected to the mast section normally stored in the launcher will be
provided. All other mast sections will have been removed but the red-coded guy wires will be
connected to the launcher. The procedures used to disassemble the launcher and antenna must be
as specified in paragraph 3-8 of TM 11-5820-540-12 and must be followed. This task must be
accomplished by two individuals within 20 minutes.
LESSON OBJECTIVES:
It is assumed that you will not have an antenna system or AN/GRC-103 available while
you take this lesson. But by accomplishing the lesson objectives you should be able to erect and
disassemble the AN/GRC-103 antenna system with some supervision from an individual already
familiar with the procedures. To successfully complete this lesson you must accomplish all of
the following lesson objectives.
a. Draw a block diagram of a 12-channel PCM radio system. Label the AN/GRC-103's
and multiplexers. The diagram must be drawn and labeled correctly.
b. Draw a block diagram of a 12-channel PCM radio relay system. Label the AN/GRC-
103's, multiplexers, terminal equipment, and radio relay site. You will be allowed
one labeling error and one error in drawing the block diagram.
c. List by nomenclature, three assemblages which contain at least one AN/GRC-103.
Two of the three assemblages must be identified correctly.
d. Label the parts indicated on a diagram of an AN/GRC-103 antenna. All antenna parts
must be identified correctly.
e. When given an antenna layout and installation diagram, you must provide the number
of paces and approximate number of feet which will evenly space the guy anchors
around the antenna. All entries you make must be as specified in this lesson.
f. From a list of 12 items associated with the antenna system used with Radio Set
AN/GRC-103, select and list those items identified in a diagram of the antenna
system. One identification error will be allowed.
g. From a group of components, select and arrange those that are used to assemble the
launcher and antenna. You will be allowed one error in arranging the components.
