When this step is performed the LOW SIGNAL lamp (Item 3) should go out if
the transmitter at the next site is transmitting to your receiver. Also the buzzer
may sound but it can be silenced by pushing the BUZZER OFF push-button
(Item 6).
STEP 7.
Refer to Fold-Out 12.
Wait until LOW SIGNAL lamp (Item 3) goes out. The loud rushing noise in
the order wire handset should disappear.
STEP 8.
Refer to Fold-Out 12.
Turn the receiver meter switch (Item 7) to RCVR SIG. This should cause the
meter to read between 25% and 90% of full scale.
Also at this time the LOW SIGNAL (Item 3) and HIGH SIGNAL (Item 4)
lamps may begin to blink. If this happens, operate the RCVR SIG control
(Item 12) slightly until both lamps go out.
STEP 9.
Refer to Fold-Out 12.
Turn the receiver meter switch (Item 7) to RCVR SIG. Release the azimuth
lock turnscrew on the antenna base plate. Use strap wrench to rotate the mast
until a maximum reading is obtained on the receiver meter. The receiver must
be receiving a signal from a transmitter while this adjustment is being made.
When a maximum reading is obtained, tighten the azimuth lock turnscrew.
STEP 10. Refer to Fold-Out 12.
Push the RING button (Item 3) on the order wire unit to contact the operator
of the site to which you are transmitting.
This should cause a 1,600-Hz signaling tone to be heard in the order wire unit
handset.
Press the order wire handset switch to talk.
