FOUO is a protective marking given to information that has not been
given a security classification, but which may be withheld from the public.
FOUO is not a security classification and is not to be used to protect
national security interests. FOUO information will be placed in an out-of-
sight location during duty hours if the work area is accessible to
nongovernment personnel.
When removed from storage, DA Label 87 will be
attached to the document(s). During nonduty hours, FOUO material shall be
stored to prevent unauthorized access or shall be stored with other
unclassified records in unlocked files or desks when internal building
security is provided. When internal building security control is not used,
locked buildings or rooms normally provide adequate after hours protection.
