When making entries in the log, the times an action begins and ends
are both entered in the log.
When recording messages, the entire message
need not be entered in the log.
Only the identified portions (message
number, precedence, and DTG, month, and year) are normally used. This may
vary according to the unit SOP. When an error is made, the mistake is not
erased.
To correct an error, the incorrect portion is lined out with a
single line and initialed by the operator. The correct information is then
continued on the same line.
(See Figure 4-2.) The operator must make a
closing entry at the end of the day (2400 hours) or when going off duty.
The closing entry is the operator's signature followed by the words OFF DUTY
printed.
