Replacement of Focusing Knob (fig. 1-5).
a. To remove the focusing knob (11), loosen the setscrew in the knob (not shown) and slip the knob
from the focusing shaft. Reverse the procedure to replace the knob.

Lift Cylinder Assembly.
a. Removal (fig. 1-5). Remove the screws (20) and remove the lift cylinder assembly (19) from the
variable condenser lens housing.
b. Disassembly (fig. 1-6). Lift out the lift piston and remove the spring from the lift cylinder.
c. Cleaning and Inspection.
(1) Clean all parts with cleaning compound and dry thoroughly.
(2) Inspect and replace defective parts as necessary.
d. Reassembly (fig. 1-6).
(1) Insert the spring in the lift cylinder.
(2) Coat the lift piston with grease and place it in the lift cylinder.
e. Installation (fig. 1-5). Place the lift cylinder assembly (19) on the variable condenser lens
housing and secure in position with screws (20).
