(5) Set the SPEAKER switch (G) on the amplifier-power supply to ON,
and verify the presence of a Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) signal from the
loudspeaker.
(6) Adjust the SQUELCH control (H) on the amplifier-power supply
until the rushing noise is quieted but the station is received. (Tune to a
frequency not used for broadcasting.)
(7) Return the set to the broadcast frequency, and set the SB
selector switch (D) on the receiver-exciter to LSB, and monitor the signal
for clarity. Then set the SB selector switch (D) back to the USB position.
AN/GRC-213, proceed as follows.

(1) Adjust

Set
the
receiver-exciter
controls
as
follows:
Set the MODE selector switch (C) to the V-TR position.
Change the frequency ((A) and (B)) to an authorized
operational frequency to establish contact with the net
control station or other operators.

If the whip antenna is being used, set the ANTENNA LOADING
switch (J) to the correct position, 2 10 or 10 30 (2 to 10
MHz or 10 to 30 MHz), for the operating frequency chosen.
If the dipole or NVIS antenna is being used, set the
ANTENNA LOADING switch (J) to DIPOLE, regardless of the
operating frequency.
(2) Press the push-to-talk (PTT) switch on the handset, and verify
the following:
A tuning tone (less than 12 seconds in duration).
No audible fault tones (beeping sound or clicking sound).
Side tone in the handset when transmitting.
Loudspeaker muted during transmission.
