c. System check.
Establish two-way communication with another radio
set, and check the quality of received and transmitted signals.
If the
AN/GRC-213 is not to be used further, return the FREQUENCY kHz switches (B)
to 05000.0 kHz and turn the SPEAKER switch (G), POWER switch (I), and VOLUME
tone for the first 3 to 12 seconds after the PTT switch is pressed the first
time after a change of frequency (which shows in the first five windows).
This tuning tone should recur each time the frequency is changed and the PTT
button is pressed. If a clicking sound is heard, it indicates low voltage
from the vehicle system, the battery in the PRC configuration, or from the
power supply in a shelter. If the tuner takes more than 12 seconds to tune,
you will hear a tune-fault tone, which is a beeping sound of interrupted 1-
kHz tone. Any faults noted during the EPC should be noted on DA Form 2404
(Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet).
A momentary 1-kHz beep
during transmission indicates a disturbance of antenna condition.
