If there is no sidetone, repeat this step until all of the CX-
4723 to J505, J506, J507 have been removed.
When all of the CX-4723 have been removed and there is no
sidetone at the commander's C-2298, reconnect one of the crew
member's CX-4723 to the AM-1780 J505, J506, or J507.
Remove the commander's CX-4723 from J504, move the handset to the
crew member's C-2298, that you reconnected, and check for
sidetone.
If there is no sidetone, the AM-1780 is bad send to IDS for
repair. If sidetone is heard, the commander's C-2298 or CX-4723
is shorted.
Reconnect the commander's CX-4723 to J504, remove the other end
from the commander's C-2298 and check for sidetone.
If sidetone is heard the commander's C-2298 is bad (shorted) send
to IDS for repair.
If there is no sidetone, the commander's CX-4723 is bad (shorted)
repair or replace.
d. Test procedure 18.
When you first check at the nearest crew
member's C-2298 and sidetone is heard, an open within the commander's C-
2298, CX-4723, or AM-1780 exists.
Remove the commander's CX-4723 from J504 and then remove the crew
member's CX-4723 from J505, J506, or J507 and connect it to J504.
Check for sidetone using the crew member's C-2298.
If there is no sidetone, the AM-1780 is bad send to IDS for
repair.
If there is sidetone, remove the CX-4723 from the commander's C-
2298.
Unbolt the commander's C-2298 from the mounting.
Remove the crew member's CX-4723 from the C-2298, and connect the
commander's C-2298 to the crew member's CX-4723.
Move the handset and check for sidetone on the commander's C-
2298.
If there is no sidetone, the commander's C-2298 is bad (open)
send to IDS for repair.
If there is sidetone, the commander's CX-4723 is bad (open) and
should be repaired or replaced.
