(2) Voice-Frequency Patching Module. Patch bays are made up of patching
modules, or patch panels, mounted in standard equipment racks. The modules
contain the jacks and wiring terminals.

The front panels of patching
modules are labeled in matrix fashion to permit identification of jacks and
jack sets. For VF circuits, the jacks are of a type to accommodate plugs
conforming to the Western Electric Company (WECO) type 310 telephone plug.
A common arrangement is two or more rows of 24 jacks each as shown in figure
1-4.
