STEP 5.
Place the lower insulator subassembly (D), accompanying
rubber gasket (E),and the grounding ring (A) under the
mounting hole on the inside of the vehicle (for vehicle top
installations) or under the mounting hole on the inside of
the antenna support (for all other installations).
The
grounding ring should be against bare metal.
STEP 6.
Mate
the
external
threads
of
the
lower
insulator
subassembly (D) a male section with the internal threads of
the upper insulator subassembly (B) female section. Screw
the two subassemblies together by hand.
STEP 7.
Place the grounding clamp (F) over the receptacle extending
from the lower insulator (D). Do not tighten the grounding
clamp.
STEP 8.
Connect the antenna cable (G) to the receptacle extending
from the lower insulator (D), and tighten the antenna
cable.
STEP 9.
Slip the grounding clamp (F) down over the connector of the
antenna cable (G). Tighten the grounding clamp.
STEP 10.
If the use of the AN/GRC-213 near vertical incidence sky
wave (NVIS) antenna is desired, install the antenna adapter
by performing the following:
Screw the antenna adapter into the female section that
extends from the upper insulator.
Install the loose end of the adapter ground lead to any
one mounting bolt of the antenna support.
Install the NVIS antenna in accordance with the mounting
paragraph in TM 11-5820-923-12.
